Senior Staff Clinician PsyPact Provider Dr. Matt Gilbert (he/him) earned his Doctor of Psychology degree from Spalding University in 2012 after completing his internship at the State University of New York at Buffalo’s Counseling Service. His background is primarily in community mental health and both small and large university counseling centers and his practice is focused on psychotherapy with adults.
Dr. Gilbert specializes in difficulties associated with the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder and acute stress reactions. He is also a specialist in the treatment of complex psychological trauma and its associated impulsive behaviors and actions including self-harm, chronic suicidality and suicidal actions, dyscontrolled anger, and the quickly shifting mood states and interpersonal chaos that often accompany these struggles. Additional areas of interest include mindfulness-based approaches to health and wellness, cycling mood disorders, depression, men’s issues, relationship concerns, struggles pertaining to membership in socially marginalized groups, and most general mental health difficulties. Dr. Gilbert provides psychotherapy from a primarily interpersonally-based framework and provides treatments such as Dialectical Behavior and Cognitive Behavioral therapies and EMDR. Dr. Gilbert is an avid traveler and outdoorsman who loves hiking, camping, backpacking, and fishing. He will also often be found exploring a new restaurant or taking in live music. |
