KRISTINA BROOKS, MED, LPATA
Art Therapist
Kristina Brooks (she/her) is an Art Therapist specializing in the treatment of adults and older adults experiencing grief, loss, trauma, terminal illness, or end-of-life challenges. She enjoys working with adults searching for their purpose, providing tools for maintaining emotional well-being during difficult life transitions, and increasing understanding of the authentic self. Kristina uses an existential approach to healing and processing experiences. She believes that creating art allows our feelings to be expressed in a way words alone may be unable to convey.
Kristina received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of South Florida in 2016. She earned her Master of Education in Counseling and Personnel Services with a concentration in Art Therapy from the University of Louisville in 2020. She became a Certified End of Life Doula in 2023. During her practicum training, Kristina worked in many placements that gave her a wealth of experience. Kristina was the lead Art Therapist at Peggy’s Place Adult Life Center. She conducted therapy groups and individual sessions with adults with various physical, mental, and emotional needs. At Wesley Manor Retirement Community, she focused on memory care and self-expression with individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, depression, anxiety, and life changes. At Baptist Health Louisville, she worked in the crisis management unit providing in-patient and intensive outpatient services. She provided therapy in the rehabilitation unit for individuals recovering from traumatic brain injury, stroke, or surgery. She also provided therapy in oncology and palliative care to patients, family members, and caregivers. Kristina enjoys the beach, animals, and spending quality time with her loved ones. Prior to her career as an Art Therapist, she worked as a caregiver and was in hospitality. |
