BRIAN BELVA, PHDLicensed Psychologist
Director of Assessment Services Dr. Brian Belva (he/him) has extensive experience in the psychological and psychoeducational assessment of children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of clinical presentations particularly in the areas of ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and learning disorders (e.g., dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia). In addition, he has worked a great deal in psychological assessment in the areas of trauma, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders (i.e., OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Phobias, Panic Disorder, PTSD, and Social Anxiety Disorder), personality disorders, Schizophrenia, behavioral disorders (Oppositional Defiant Disorder/Conduct Disorder), developmental delay, intellectual disabilities, and other social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
Dr. Belva obtained his BA in Psychology from Georgetown College in 2007 and his MA in Clinical Psychology from Murray State University in 2009. He graduated with his PhD in Clinical Psychology from Louisiana State University in 2014. He completed a pre-doctoral internship through the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis and a post-doctoral fellowship at Emory University (Marcus Autism Center) in Atlanta. At Compass, Dr. Belva enjoys conducting psychological evaluations on children, teenagers, and adults to aid in developing appropriate treatment plans. He consults with school administrators to help develop educational plans (e.g., IEPs and/or 504 Plans) for children and teenagers. He also helps his patients find appropriate therapists in Louisville for treatment and communicates with primary care providers to aid them in appropriate pharmacological options for patients. In his spare time, Dr. Belva enjoys spending time with his wife, son, and two cats (Mimsie and Lou). He also enjoys playing tennis, reading, traveling, and board gaming. |
