EMAIL DR. IKRAM

AMEENAH IKRAM, PSYD, HSP

Licensed Psychologist
PsyPact Provider

Dr. Ikram completed her PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Spalding University in 2023. Dr. Ikram is a Licensed Psychologist and Health Service Provider in Kentucky and North Carolina. Dr. Ikram has experience with brief and long-term individual therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, and psychological assessment. Dr. Ikram works with individuals across the lifespan, and is particularly passionate about working with young adults, women, and individuals who hold diverse multicultural backgrounds. She has been trained to work with a variety of presenting concerns, and has special interest in working with clients who may be struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, trauma/PTSD, multicultural identity struggles, women’s issues, perinatal mood disorders, adjustment difficulties, and behavioral struggles.

Dr. Ikram uses a trauma informed interpersonal framework to develop a collaborative, nonjudgmental, and safe relationship with her clients. She is intentional about using the therapeutic alliance as a tool throughout the course of therapy, and incorporates empirically supported interventions grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Time Limited Dynamic Psychotherapy (TLDP). Dr. Ikram uses these approaches to help clients identify and process emotions, examine interpersonal attachment patterns, explore internal and external experiences, understand the impact of difficult life events, cope with challenges, learn new ways of thinking and behaving, and work towards achieving a wholesome values-based way of living. Dr. Ikram has also found that using cultural humility and feminist, anti-racist, and social justice frameworks are at the core of building safety, trust, empathy, validation, and understanding with clients.

Dr. Ikram has been granted the authority to practice inter-jurisdictional telepsychology by the PSYPACT Commission. Being a PSYPACT provider allows Dr. Ikram to practice telepsychology across state lines in 43 states (and counting).

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Ikram supervises graduate students and serves on dissertation committees of graduate students enrolled in Spalding University’s School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Ikram also holds professional memberships with the Kentucky Psychological Association, North Carolina Psychological Association, and Postpartum Support International. Outside of work, Dr. Ikram enjoys spending time with family and friends, trying new coffee shops and restaurants, and volunteering for various projects happening within the Louisville Muslim community.
